Cat Behavioural

This may be helpful for cat behavioural issues that include:

  • Toileting in unwanted locations of the house.

  • Scratching of furniture or carpets.

  • Aggressive behaviour towards people

  • Conflict with other cats.

  • Hiding.

  • Repetitive behaviours.

  • Obesity.

  • Cognitive decline.

  • Issues related to handling, grooming, veterinary visits

Included within the package

  • Detailed analysis of veterinary history, pre-visit questionnaire and accompanying video footage.

  • 1.5-2 hour cat behavioural assessment carried out in person at your home by a registered veterinary behaviourist for households within 45 minutes of GU10. (Home visits may be considered for further distances with an additional travel charge). The assessment will include determining the emotions which are driving the behaviour and developing a program for you to follow that is tailored to your cat and your lifestyle to modify their behaviour (Behavioural Modification Plan).

  • Clinical examination of your cat (if they are comfortable with this).

  • Written report to yourselves detailing the Behavioural Modification Plan (BMP).

  • Written report to your veterinary surgeon detailing the behavioural history, diagnosis, and any recommendations for medication to be prescribed.

  • Email support if needed within 3 months following the behavioural assessment.

Remote Cat Behavioural

Package

This may be helpful if your cat is uncomfortable with visitors as they will they remain relaxed.

The remote package may also be preferable for households where the travel time exceeds 45 minutes.

Please do not be concerned that the problematic behaviour may not be seen during a consultation, your description will often be sufficient.

Included within the package:

  • Detailed analysis of veterinary history, pre-visit questionnaire and accompanying video footage.

  • 1.5-3 hour cat behavioural assessment carried out online via Microsoft® Teams® by a registered veterinary behaviourist. The assessment will include determining the emotions which are driving the behaviour and developing a program for you to follow that is tailored to your cat and your lifestyle to modify their behaviour (Behavioural Modification Plan).

  • Written report to yourselves detailing the Behavioural Modification Plan (BMP).

  • Written report to your veterinary surgeon detailing the behavioural history, diagnosis, and any recommendations for medication to be prescribed.

  • Email support for 3 months following the behavioural assessment.

Follow up consultations

Follow up consultations may be helpful to provide additional support through your cat’s behavioural modification process.

Situations where this may be beneficial include:

  • When support greater than that which can suitably be provided by email is necessary. This may, for example include additional help demonstrating and guiding you through specific training techniques.

  • For cats facing multiple behavioural challenges as it will be important that the initial behavioural modification plan does not overwhelm your cat or yourselves.

Follow up consultations will be necessary if your cat has been recommended behavioural medication whenever this medication is reviewed.

Follow up consultations may include further correspondence with your vet if indicated.

  • Initial telephone consultations (30 minutes) £75

A telephone consultation may be helpful to provide first-aid advice prior to starting a behavioural package. Please be aware that during this call it will not be possible to make a behavioural diagnosis or give advice for modifying your cat’s behaviour. The call will aim to advise how best to help support your cat until an assessment can be arranged.

Please also note that a referral from your primary vet will need to be in place before a telephone consultation is arranged.

Insurance Claims

Please be aware that many insurance companies will cover the behavioural services offered. If insurance claims are made, there will be a nominal charge of £20 for the administration involved in submitting each claim.
